This coin was struck over a follis of Maurice Tiberius from Theoupolis (Antioch), dated to the seventh year of his reign (DOC 159, MIB 94ff and SB 532). Substantial elements of the undertype remain discernible. On the obverse, the regnal year 'RY 7' (corresponding to 588/9) is clearly visible in the lower left field, while on the reverse, one can still make out the drapery of the emperor, the eagle-tipped scepter held in his left hand, and portions of the original legend.
